The last Known flight of the World Advanced Aerobatic Championships in Dubnica nad Váhom, Slovakia was completed yesterday evening, the 9th of August. All 66 pilots completed the sequence and at 9:30 am this morning, Sunday, the results became official after the protest period expired.
The contest proceeded smoothly throughout the day, though not without interruption. Before US Team pilot Craig Gifford's flight, an aircraft landed gear up on the grass runway here at the airfield but it wasn't long before a whole crew of men lifted it and moved it off the runway so the contest could resume. There were a couple of minor mechanical problems with aircraft but there was no delay in the contest as a result and they were resolved quickly.
US Team pilot Craig Gifford, flying the Panzl S-330 that was shipped to Europe, captured the Bronze Medal in the Known.
