Flying began just a few minutes ago (at about 12:00 noon here in Slovakia) of Programme 4 -- the 2nd Free Unknown. Six pilots were flown last night after the 1st Free Unknown was completed. After a 50% cut of the pilots, based on the standings from the combined programmes, a total of 32 pilots will fly the last programme of this year's WAAC. Low clouds have again plagued the contest site but weather is now above minimums and the flights should move quickly.
Official results of the competition can be found at https://www.civa-results.com. US Team pilot Mark Nowosielski is the highest ranking American in 11th place after the first three programmes. Mark Fullerton and Martin Flournoy made the cut and will also fly the last programme. The USA Team is currently in fourth place.
All of the American pilots have elected to fly sequence "E" -- a total of 9 were submitted by teams for this programme. This sequence is shown below.
Closing ceremonies and banquet are tonight with everyone heading home tomorrow. The disassembly of the US aircraft will begin immediately and then the drive back to Emden, Germany with the two team trucks for shipment to the USA this coming week.
