The Best U.S. Aerobatic Pilots to Compete for National Championship
More than 100 of the nation’s most highly-skilled aerobatic pilots will contend in head-to-head competition for the U.S. National Aerobatic Championship title at the Grayson County Airport in Denison, TX, this month. The Championships will be held September 21-28 in Denison, which is one hour north of the Dallas metro area, and are organized by the International Aerobatic Club (IAC), the governing body for aerobatics in the United States.

IAC and FAA officials will release a new video on July 26, Thursday, 1 p.m., titled, "How To Avoid Aircraft Upsets." IAC Vice President Dave Monroe and a representative of the FAA to be announced will be on hand to introduce the video, the second such collaboration between IAC, EAA, NAFI and FAA. The first video, "Avoiding the Inadvertent Spin," was introduced at last year’s AirVenture.

The video will be shown between 1 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. at the eBay Pavilon (former AOL Pavilion).

In an IAC Board of Directors teleconference on Saturday, June 29, 2002, Gerry Molidor was unanimously elected as IAC President to fill the vacant position left by Rob Dorsey. Mike Maloney was appointed to fill the vacant Board of Directors position left by Gerry.

IAC President Rob Dorsey announced his resignation on Saturday, June 22, after 15 months in office, citing philosophical differences regarding U.S. aerobatic team issues as his primary reason for the resignation.

“We thank Rob for his efforts during his tenure with the IAC and appreciate the hard work and dedication he provided to the world of aerobatic flight,” said Dave Monroe, IAC Vice President and acting President. “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
