FAI suspends Russia and Belarus Participation in Air Sports

On February 28, 2022 the Federation Aeronautique Internationale published their position on the conflict taking place in the Ukraine.
"The FAI’s fundamental aim is to maintain the integrity and support the development of air sports across all nations in line with a set of values that nurture inclusion and transcend national differences. To maintain that aim under the circumstances created by the military conflict in the Ukraine, the FAI Executive Board has unanimously decided to implement the following extraordinary measures: To suspend the members of Russia and Belarus with immediate effect and therefore removing all rights as listed in FAI Statutes 2.4.2.1."
National Aeronautic Association (NAA) President, Greg Principato agrees with the FAI's actions. "The suspension of Russia and Belarus from membership is appropriate. The two countries will not be able to send their pilots to FAI sanctioned events or to hold FAI events in their countries. I will continue to monitor the situation and communicate any updates to IAC leadership." During the March 20 IAC board meeting Greg went on to say, "At this time the FAI Secretary General has indicated that all championships held in Poland, the location of the World Aerobatic Championships in August, are not affected by the conflict in the Ukraine."
