The International Aerobatic Hall of Fame was formed in 1986 to give appropriate recognition to those who have made a significant contribution to aerobatics. This year the IAC Hall of Fame committee led by Chairman David Martin, with unanimous approval of the IAC board of directors, has announced the 2021 IAC Hall of Fame Recipient is Kirby Chambliss.

On August 10, 2021, the FAA released revised guidance for getting an aerobatic practice area (APA) and an aerobatic contest box (ACB) certificates of waiver. The new guidance reflects many positive changes and clarifications on recurring issues related to APAs and ACBs. Kevin Raymond, the FAA Team Leader, is responsible for getting the final version out and included the IAC, and me during the revision process at every step of the way.

Please be advised that the organizers for the U.S. National Aerobatic Championships are monitoring daily developments in Salina, Saline County, Kansas for COVID-19 infection rates and guidelines updates.  The organizers will abide by the state and county guidelines.
 
As of August 23, the update for Saline County was 35 new cases identified and reported by the health department. 166  variants were identified in 290 samples.
At this time there is no mask mandate for Saline County. The organizers will have hand sanitizers available to all…

Leo Update as of 8/23/2021
Another week, another contest added to the NPSC results for the Leo Trophy.  We've completed a lot of flying through early August with about 214 NPSC competitors spread across 17 NPSC qualified contests.   Nathan Ruedy, Brittanee Lincoln, Matt Dunfee and Dave Watson have each flown in 3 different regions as you'll see in the results here and so have earned qualifying points in the series.   It looks like the Advanced category is shaping up to be a tight battle between Matt Dunfee and Dave Watson.  Dave closed the gap a little with his 1st…

Congratulations to Larry Macon, IAC# 26541, pictured here with friends and family during the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award presentation in July. Larry has been an IAC member since 1999 and has competed in 42 IAC contests in 11 states. He has over 1,000 hours in aerobatic flight. 

“Larry has been accident-free, with no violations or accidents for 50 years of flying,” Paul Meyer, FAASTeam program manager from Charlotte, North Carolina said. “I have gotten to know Larry through the process of this award to be an aviation ambassador, always promoting aviation to someone.”
