Members-Only Content

The site should provide a healthy number of public pages and articles, enough to not just whet the appetite but also provide an in-depth view of our sport. This is balanced with the desire to provide members with extra value in return for their dues, and the need to maintain privacy in certain areas.

Examples of public material:

  • Introductory articles: The Aerobatic Box, Intro to Aresti, etc.
  • Event calendars
  • Sport Aerobatic issues that are more than 12 months old
  • All issues of In the Loop
  • A moderated discussion forum for newbies
  • Programs overview
    • Instructor designation
    • Insurance
    • Gov't liaison
    • etc.

Examples of members-only material:

  • In-depth articles -- e.g., how to get a waiver, how to fly a

  • Historical archives such as Smooth/Stars patch recipients, special trophy winners, Hall of Fame, etc.
  • The Rule Book

  • Unmoderated or semi-moderated discussion forums by topic (judging, airshows, maintenance, safety, teams, etc.)
  • Internal business -- Board meeting minutes, P&P, nominations, proposed Known sequences, proposed rule changes, etc.
  • Contest operations
    • JaSPer download & support

  • Member profiles, contact info, etc.

To designate a page as members-only, open the page for editing, click on the Publishing Options box (bottom left portion of the page), check the box labeled Premium content, and click Save.

Note that non-members can still see page teasers, typically the first few lines of content. Drupal automatically decides how much content to put in the teaser, but you can override that using the Insert Teaser Break icon () in the web screen editor. If you are working on a members-only page, please take a moment to make sure that nothing inappropriate (e.g. a member's phone number) appears in the teaser section.
