The 28th FAI World Aerobatic Championships has concluded in Chateauroux, France with the Final Freestyles (Four Minute program) flown today followed by an airshow. 

Alexandre Orlowski of France is the new Overall World Aerobatic Champion, taking home the prestigious Aresti Cup.  Alexandre's rise in aerobatics has been meteoric.  A French Air Force pilot flying with the EVAA (France's military pilot group flying in FAI Aerobatic Championships), he is qualified in the Mirage 2000 and Alpha Jet. We have just received a file with all of the 7 Free Unknown sequences that will be flown by the pilots in Programme 3 at the World Aerobatic Championships now in progress in Chateauroux, France.  The US Team pilots will fly sequence "J".  Altogether, 14 sequences were submitted by the teams but in the end, only 7 are being used by the pilots.  Flying was called off today due to high wind but it appears the contest will resume tomorrow.  The Free Programme (Programme 2) is not yet complete.  Results can be found at https://www…

The US Unlimited Aerobatic Team is now in place in Albert, France and they pose here with their aircraft in a photo taken this evening, Monday, August 3rd, after what was undoubtedly a long day. Some of the airplanes made the long journey across the Atlantic in a container or were sent over onboard cargo aircraft.  With their coach, Coco Bessiere, there with them it promises to be a productive and intense two weeks before they move to the contest site in Chateauroux on August 16th.  Updates as we receive them.
